S-Shaped Italian Cookies

Ingredients:
4 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 cup margarine
3 eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 tbsp baking powder
1 -1/2 tsp of flavoring (vanilla, lemon, anise)

Directions:   Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

Sifting:
Sift together flour, baking powder and sugar
Mixing:
Beat eggs

Kneading:
Make a well and cut in margarine, eggs, flavoring (vanilla, lemon or anise) and milk.  Knead together until smooth.  Once combined roll dough into balls and bake for 13 minutes.

*Note that dough may be sticky, do not add more flour.  Just pat hand with flour before rolling and do not bake too close together*

Frosting

Ingredients:
4 cups of sugar
1/4 cup Wesson vegetable oil
Water

Mixing the frosting:
Mix together sugar and wesson oil.  Slow add water until the right consistency.  I like to use pink for vanilla cookies, yellow for lemon cookies and green for the anise cookies.

Frosting the cookies:

Finished Cookies!

These might actually be my favorite cookies!  I have tried baking these a few times, but they never seem to come out the way my Aunts make them.  While I was home I decided to take a lesson form my Aunt Annie.  I usually make a few batches so the pink cookies are the vanilla flavoring, then substitute the vanilla for lemon (yellow cookies), and anise (green cookies).
